Geraldton Green Connect Project’s next stage officially underway

The next stage of the Geraldton Green Connect Project is now officially underway, and we’re pleased to once again be working alongside the City of Greater Geraldton, the community, project partners and our wider consultant team. Together, we’ll continue the transformation of Maitland Park into a multi-use parkland and integrated sustainable transport hub.

From the City’s media release:
Planning is officially underway on the Geraldton Green Connect Project which will see the transformation of Maitland Park into a multiuse space powered by renewable energy featuring an educational and culturally immersive landscape.

The grant funded planning stage aims to deliver a triple bottom line business case along with detailed designs and documentation that will improve pedestrian safety, resolve traffic congestion and create a precinct that heavily fosters education in nature and science for young people.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the two year planning process will build on the engagement undertaken to date and continue to involve stakeholders and the community.

“The Green Connect Project stems from the Maitland Park Transport Hub Concept Masterplan that a very diverse group of stakeholders developed to address the multifaceted issues and opportunities the school precinct presents,” he said.

“I’d like to thank them for the time they took to develop the Concept Plan and look forward to continuing to work together throughout the development of the comprehensive design and business case for the Project.

“I’d also like to thank Bundiyarra Aboriginal Community Aboriginal Corporation, Geraldton Universities Centre, the Australian Urban Design Research Centre and the Town Teams Movement who have partnered with the City on this transformative Project.”

We’re looking forward to leading an exceptional and diverse team of technical experts in delivering this next significant stage. Having supported the City and stakeholders during the early phases through the delivery of engagement workshops and the Maitland Park Transport Hub Concept Masterplan (UDLA, Aug 2023) we are ready to hit the ground running.
